Holiday Mini Catalog Ordering Begins Wednesday!

A Cardinal Christmas

I am in a swap with 3 other demonstrators from my side-line and each of us chose a stamp set from the upcoming Holiday Mini catalog which makes its' debut on October 1st.  My choice was A Cardinal Christmas stamp set.   I've finally finished all 3 of my swaps and I'm getting ready to send them out.  As soon as I receive my samples from the other demonstrators in my swap group I'll post pictures of them.  Below are my swaps.  

The first set of cards was made with Pacific Point In-Color cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Urban Garden Designer Series paper, and Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point Classic Inks. 

 

This card was made with Riding Hood Red In-Color cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Bella Rose Designer Series paper, Top Note Bigz Die, Basic Black ink and Watercolor Pencils.  The designer paper is folded back 1/2 inch to reveal the other side, which is brown. I've added a Jumbo Brad as an embellishment.

 

The last card was made wth Kiwi Kiss (I'm in love with this green!) and Very Vanilla cardstock, and the Top Note Bigz Die for the Big Shot.  The cardinal was stamped on our Vellum paper with Black Stazon.  When it dried I turned the paper over and colored the image with our Watercolor Pencils and used the Blender Pen.

Can you believe that fall begins this morning in less than an hour?  Where did the summer go?  I do love fall with all the beautiful earth-tone colors.  That's probably why I'm always drawn to the Earth Elements Stampin' Up! color family.  I did begin my Fall/Winter clubs this weekend and everyone had a great time making their 10 handcrafted cards.  We made 2 cards each of 5 designs.  I'm going to post all the cards we made so that the gals who were unable to attend this weekend will be able to put their cards together when they pick up their club packages.

2-Piece Nugget Bag Tutorial

You've asked for it and here it is!  This is a cute 2-piece nugget bag that I give to all the guests at my Stamping Parties.  On the back of it I have an information label with my name, my Blog and my SU Website.  I received a similar one for a swap at Convention – thank you Jean from Virginia!  My version is a little smaller and uses “Summer Picnic” double-sided designer paper.  Of course any of our Stampin’ Up! Designer Series double-sided paper would look great.

   

Directions

Cut double-sided designer paper 3” x 4½” as shown below.  The next part is the hardest thing you’ll have to do – decide which side of the beautiful paper you want to use for the ‘outside’ of your bag!

 

 

 

After you decide which side of the paper will be the outside of the bag, score and cut the piece according to the diagram.   Cut along red lines; fold according to dotted lines. (See diagram below).

Width:  Score at 1”, 1½” and 2½”

Length:  Score at ½” and 2½”

 

Cut out long sides as shown below (refer to diagram). 

 

With Corner Rounder Punch, round the corners of the narrow end where sides were cut out.  This will be the ‘flap’ of your bag. 

 

 

 

Add ribbon for handle, fold and adhere sides with Sticky Strip.   To finish the bag add an embellishment such as a brad on top flap.  Add Velcro dots for the fastener.  Now you can make a 'designer nugget bag' for any occasion!

 

Frankenstein Projects

While watching the Indianapolis Colts play the Minnesota Vikings (what a nerve-wrecking game!) I finished my "make & takes" for a special Stampin' Up! meeting I'm attending this week hosted by Tami Waddell.  As I said before, I LOVE the Big Shot.  I used the Sizzix Top Note Bigz Die($21.95) for the face and hair and 3 different size punches for the eyes, eyelids and nose.  I can't take credit for the design. One of my downline, Debbie, found a similar card on another blog designed by Dawn.  

   

The picture above includes a Frankenstein card we will be making at this month's "Gifts from the Heart" card clubs.  It can be used either as an October birthday card or a Halloween card. 

  

Pictured above is my Frankenstein 'make & take' and a Spooky Spider jar.  The spider was a sample of one of Stampin' Up!'s Decor Elements pieces which Convention attendees could purchase.  It makes a great Halloween jar to hold treats.  Beginning October 1st you can make your home and Halloween projects spooktacular with Spooky Spider Decor Elements.  It comes in 3 sizes and 2 colors and is designed to coordinate with the Ghostly Greetings Designer Series paper and the Chills & Thrills Rub-Ons from the Fall Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog.  I love how easy it is to apply the Decor Elements pieces.  First a jar and next my walls.....

Inspired by Nature

I think right now Inspired by Nature is my favorite stamp set.  Demonstrators received it as one of our free stamp sets at Convention this year and I find myself using it more and more.  This is one of the   cards we are doing for a make & take at my Stamping Parties this month.  The cardstock is one of the new In Colors--Tangerine Tango.  I'm not much of an 'orange' person but I have to admit that Tangerine Tango is fast growing on me!

 

Calendar & Gift Class October 4th

Here are the clipboard calendar and the pizza-style flip box with 3" x 3" note cards that we will be doing in my Calendar & Gift Class.  The class will be held on Saturday, October 4th, from 9:30 a.m. until noon.  The class includes the stamp set Pocket Silhouettes in the fee.  The class will feature Urban Garden double-sided designer paper.  This is a pre-pay class and the fee is $35 ($30 for club members).
