From the Garden

Today's card again features the new stamp set, From the Garden, from the Occasions mini catalog.  I don't think I could ever get tired of this set.  It will work for just about any occasion, which will make it a favorite!

It's not easy to see in the photo but I did a little shading around the edges of the Green Galore cardstock for some added dimension.  The 'hanging dried flowers' were done by coloring the rubber image with Stampin' Write Markers, then stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  I love adding color to images this way because it's fast and gives you a watercolor effect.  I think this is also an economical way to get started if you're new to Stampin' Up!.  All you need is a stamp set, either Whisper White  or Very Vanilla cardstock,  a Basic Black Classic Ink pad and a few Stampin' Write Markers and you're set to create beautiful handcrafted cards to send to your family and friends!

Think Spring!

 I'm so ready for spring to get here (only 67 more days????) so I decided that maybe it would help if I designed a spring card for class.  This one uses From the Garden, one of our new clear-mounted stamp sets.  It is Item #118568, and consistes of 5 stamps.  This set is available in clear-mount and wood-mount.

You can't really tell from the picture but the 2nd hat is stamped then cut out and adhered with a Dimensional, overlapping the 1st hat a little.  I also wanted to show my customers how to use our Jumbo Grommets on a card.

   

Simple Wedding Card

I decided that for this month's stamping classes, we would focus on building up our collection of all occasion cards, after several months of making just holiday cards.  Today's card is a simple wedding card using the Ever After  wedding set.  I patterned this card after one done by Silke L., who does beautiful work.  This set is a great addition to your stamp collection, and contains 4 elegant stamps which can be yours for only $22.95, if ordered through my website.  It is item #113401.

 

Instructions for Class Projects

Today I spent the afternoon typing up all the instructions for my upcoming stamping classes which will meet on Saturday, January 16th at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday, January 17th, at 1:00 p.m.  The class fee is only $15.00 and includes all the supplies to make several fun projects, including a cute mini milk carton for Valentine treats.

Wallet Card

Today was a very snowy day and there was not much to do except check out my favorite stamping websites and see what everyone was doing.  I found a really cool wallet card made with the 'faux leather' technique.  While that is a very neat technique, I was looking for somthing that took less time to make, so after studying the card, I decided I could make it in a simpler way.  I'm all about 'easy' and 'fast' when it comes to anything in life, and cards are no exception.  This is a fun card to make and instead of spending a lot of time embossing the cardstock to look like faux leather, I just used the Stampin' Up! Groom Designer Paper to get the same look.

DIRECTIONS:

Cut one 5 1/4" x 8 3/4" piece of Stampin' Up! Groom Specialty Paper (13,5 cm x 22,5 cm)

Cut two 2" x 3" pieces of Stampin' Up! Groom Specialty Paper (5 cm x 6 cm) 

Cut one 5 3/16" x 8 11/16" piece of patterned paper (13,4 cm x 22,4 cm)  .

Cut two narrow strips of patterend paper or ribbon cut to fit through buckle

With Sticky Strip, adhere designer paper to the Groom Specialty Paper.  Score the smaller pieces of the Groom Specialty Paper every 1/2" (1 cm) , adding five score lines.  Fan fold the score lines mountain/valley style.  Add Sticky Strip adhesive to the last fold on each side.  Adhere folded cardstock as shown.

Fold and adhere sides to the lower part of the wallet as shown.

 

Attatch the buckles to the narrow pieces of designer paper or ribbon, add double sided tape and attatch them to the wallet as shown on the finished wallet.

 

 

 

Using a Pop-Up Glue Dot, attach a small Filigree to the front of the wallet.  I used Velcro to close the wallet

 

 

 

 

I think this would be very pretty using the Bridesmaid Specialty Paper.

A Great Day to Play!

Now that I've put away all the holiday decorations for another year, I'm spending today playing with all my new punches, embossing folders and stamps from the Occasions mini catalog that begins on January 5th.  This was a very hard catalog for me to decide on what to pre-order from as it is packed with so many great items.  You should be receiving your copy in the mail any day now.  Because of the holidays Stampin' Up! is a little behind in mailing them out, but the Occasions mini and the Sale-A-Bration mini will be on my Stampin' Up! website on Tuesday.

Here's a card I made today using the new Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch. and the new Well Scripted clear-mounted stamp set.  Isn't it just too cute?
