We had so much fun this past weekend at my March stamp camps. I think, hands-down, the favorite project was the Card-in-a-Box. There are so many possibilities with how to decorate the basic box. I wanted our boxes to look like delivery boxes with "fragile" and "handle with care" labels so I actually had to create my own images for the front of the card/box. However the inside was all Stampin' Up! If you would like to purchase any of the items used to make this darling card, please visit my Stampin' Up! Online Store today. And don't forget, this is the last week to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration. Receive a FREE item for every $50 purchase!
Basic Box Instructions
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to measure 8-1/4” x 9”
2. Score along the 9” side at 2-1/8”, 4-1/4”, 6-3/8” and 8-1/2”
3. Turn 90 degrees and score at 2-3/4”
4. With the 8-1/4” side on the top and your 2-3/4” score to the left, cut cardstock to measure 6” Save the “scrap” piece that is cut off .
5. Measure the ‘scrap piece’ and cut to 3-1/8, making sure to include the ‘tab.’ After it is cut this piece will have a ‘tab’ on each side. Cut this piece in 1/2 lengthwise so you will have two strips, each having a tab at both ends. Fold the tabs in a ‘z’ and adhere Sticky Strip to ends. Set aside.
6. Turn main cardstock so that the 2-3/4” side is on the bottom and cut along the small square score lines to create flaps. Trim off the tiny strip on the left as you do not need it. You will be left with the narrow tab.
7. Fold on the long creases. Use Sticky Strip to adhere box together. Fold back the flaps on the front and two sides. Do not fold the back flap.
8. To make to box sturdier, I added a piece of 2” x 5-3/4” cardstock the same color as my box and adhered it to the inside of the back flap (the piece that was not folded back).
9. Adhere 2” x 2-5/8” Designer Series Paper to all the inside flaps.
10. Add two ‘z’ strips inside the box. These are your two panels used to adhere your flowers (hearts, butterflies, birds, etc) that you want to POP out of the box.
11. Stamp and punch out your flowers, leaves, etc. and layer them to your ‘z’ flaps.
11. Embellish your box/card as desired.
Happy Stamping,
Karen
