Techniques Tuesday: Spotlight Masking Tutorial

Today I wanted to feature a fun technique called Spotlight Masking.  It is like putting an "aura" around something.  It's fast and easy to do -- just a little extra stamping, cutting and sponging are all that's involved!

SPOTLIGHT MASKING INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:  Stamp image onto Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and also onto a piece of scrap paper.  Cut out scrap paper image.

Step 2:  Die cut  circle/square which is larger than image on cardboard.  Lightly tape cardboard template to stamped cardstock to prevent slipping.

Step 3:  Hold cutout of image over stamped image and sponge background color around it carefully, keeping template in place.  Lift off.

Step 4:  Embellish and complete card.

Tutorial Mini Open Basket

Are you always looking for a cute way to present a little treat to someone, perhaps a friend or co-worker?  This is a little mini open basket we made recently at my Envelope Punch Board Class.  It's very easy to make and you can get 4 mini baskets from one 12" x 12" sheet of Designer Series Paper.  Don't forget, you can purchase your Envelope Punch Board (133774) for only $19.95 by visiting my Stampin' Up! INSTRUCTIONS

Cut a piece of 6: x 6” Designer Series Paper

 

Line up the paper on the Envelope Punch Board  at 1-1/2” — punch and score.  Turn

Line up at 2-1/2” — punch and score; turn

Line up at 1-1/2” — punch and score; turn

Line up at 2-1/2” — punch and score.

 

Now line up a side at the score line, punch and score; turn

Line up at the score line, punch and score; turn

Line up at the score line, punch and score; turn

Line up at the score line, punch and score.

 

Round all corners; carefully fold all score lines

 

On each of the larger ends, punch a hole at the top.  Tip:  Using the 3/4” punch, punch out a white circle and adhere it exactly where you want it on the larger ends.  Now you can punch the circles out exactly where you want them!

 

On each side of the holes, snip  the sides down to the fold line.  Adhere the smaller tabs inside.  Adhere remaining sides to make a box shape.    OR, instead of snipping sides down, pleat corners in and fold top down.  Add ribbon and embellishments.
