Bluebirds Holiday Card

 

Sometimes it is fun to make a non-traditional holiday card.  I like to send these to my non-traditional friends.  This card today is really pretty -- I love the color scheme of blues and greens.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fold a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” Whisper White (100730) cardstock  in half.  Set aside.

2. Cut a 5-1/4” x 4” piece of Whisper White cardstock and punch the bottom with the Confetti Stars Punch (1358641).  Add a 5-1/4” x 1-1/2” piece of All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper (135823) just above the punched out border.  Adhere a piece of Soft Sky (131203) behind the border.

3. Stamp Season’s Greetings (Retired) in Lost Lagoon (133644) ink.  Add a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8” Silky Taffeta Ribbon (135841) across the middle.  Adhere to the front of the card.

4. Punch out two birds in Lost Lagoon (133679) cardstock and Soft Sky cardstock, using the Bird Builder Punch (117191) and adhere to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).

Merry & Bright Holiday Card

I think one of my favorite stamp sets from the Stampin' Up! 2014-15 Annual Catalog has to be hands-down the Work of Art.  When I first saw it I wasn't impressed with the various slashes and dashes in the set.  However, when I started seeing some of the cards designed by various talented demonstrators, I was all in!  Today's card uses the set for a very special Christmas tree.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fold a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” Whisper White (100730) cardstock  in half.

2. Cut a 5-1/4” x 4” piece of Real Red (102482) cardstock  and adhere to the front of the card.

3. On a piece of  5” x 3-3/4”  Whisper White cardstock, ink up the slash image from the Work of Art (134111-wood,  134114-clear) stamp set with Mossy Meadow (133645) ink and stamp 4 times re-inking each time to form the branches on the Christmas tree.  Stamp the “trunk” of the tree with the Early Espresso (119680) Stampin’ Write Marker.  Adhere to the front of the card.

4. Decorate the tree with some embellishments.

5. Cut out a star using the Stars Framelits (133723)  and emboss with the Tiny Triangles (133740) Embossing Folder.  Adhere to the top of the tree with a Stampin’ Dimensional (104430).

6. Punch out the Merry & Bright from the Wishes & Greetings Digital Image with the 1-3/4” Circle Punch (119850) and adhere to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Technique Tuesday: Shadow Stamping

Want to learn a great technique today?  This one is called the Shadow Stamping Technique and is soooo easy but gives your card a little dimension.  You can order any of the items used by visiting my Stampin' Up! Online Store

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:  Stamp image in lighter color; this will be the shadow.

Step 2:  Stamp image in darker coordinating color slightly off the first image to create main image. 

Or try the following method:

Step 1:  Stamp image in VersaMark ink on dark card stock, and let dry.

Step 2:  Rub the Embossing Buddy over your card stock, and then stamp image a second time in VersaMark ink slightly off the first image. Cover with Clear Stampin' Emboss powder and heat emboss.

The Christmas Story Star

 

One of the most beautiful stories in my humble opinion is the Christmas Story -- the Birth of Christ.  I wanted to incorporate it in my Christmas card this year so I found Luke's Gospel and printed it out.  Then using the Stars Framelits, I cut out the story.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fold a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of Very Vanilla  (101650) cardstock in half.  Set aside.

2. Emboss a the bottom of a piece of 5” x 3-3/4” Very Vanilla cardstock with the Lucky Stars (135817) Embossing Folder.  Adhere a piece of Crochet Trim (retired) across the center separating the embossed from the stamped portion of the cardstock. 

3. Stamp the “Joy expressed, Love shared, a Miracle celebrated” from the Many Merry Messages (retired) in Crumb Cake (126975) ink at the top right corner of the embossed cardstock..  Layer the stamped/embossed piece to onto a piece of 4” x 1-1/2” Crumb Cake (131004) cardstock, then onto front of the card.

4. Cut out the Christmas Story from Luke 2:9-11 with the Stars Framelits (133723) and sponge Crumb Cake ink around the edges.  Adhere to the front of the card.

5. Add a Real Red 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon (119251) to the top of the card using a Glue Dot.

6. Stamp the inside with your sentiment.

Festival of Trees Fun Fold Card

 

With Christmas just 35 days away, it's time to start making those holiday cards!  Here is a fun fold card we made recently at my Holiday Stamp-a-Stack using the Festival of Trees stamp set.  If you would like to order any of the items used to make this card, just visit my Stampin' Up! INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a piece of Pistachio Pudding (131294) cardstock to measure 4-1/4” x 11”.  Score at 5-1/2”.  Cut off    2-1/4” from one of the ends.

2. Fold  card so that the left front flap measures 3-1/4; adhere a  3” x 4” piece of Trim a Tree (135824) Designer  Series Paper Pack to the front flap.

3. Stamp a piece of  5-1/4” x 2-1/2” Whisper White (100730) cardstock with the Festival of Trees (135059-Photopolymer) stamp using  Garden Green (126973) ink and an Early Espresso (119680) Stampin’ Write Marker.  Add a strip of  Trim a Tree Designer Series Paper Pack.  Layer it onto a 5-1/4” x 2-3/4” Garden Green (102584) cardstock. 

4. Carefully adhere the layered stamped piece to the front of the card, putting adhesive only on the left side.

5. Stamp a 5-1/4” x 4” piece of Whisper White cardstock in the lower left corner with the Christmas tree and stamp sentiment.

6. Stamp the outside of the envelope.

Turkey Hostess Box Revisited

I thought today I would re-visit a cute hostess box I made last year.  The box is the Extra-Large Gift Box from Stampin' Up!  which comes in a package of 3.  The turkey was made with the Gift Bow Bigz L Die and the turkey's bib is from the Chalk Talk (130631-wood, 130634-clear) stamp set.  I also used various punches for the face.  Fill the box with some goodies and give your hostess a special treat for Thanksgiving!

Technique Tuesday: Magic (Emerging) Image

 

Want a fun technique to do with the kids?  Today's technique is called Magic Image or Emerging Image and is easy and fun to do.  I love doing it with the grandkids and watching their eyes as the magic happens when our stamped image starts to appear!

 

Instructions:

Step 1:  Rub your Embossing Buddy over White Glossy Cardstock.  Stamp image onto cardstock with white ink.

Step 2:  Sprinkle with White Embossing Powder & heat set.

Step 3:  Put rubbing alcohol onto cotton ball.  Squeeze 2 drops off 1st color of re-inker on top left of cotton ball, then 2 drops of 2nd color on the right.

Step 4:  Dab wet cotton ball over entire stamped piece until completely covered.

Step 5:  Use heat gun on center of the image and watch it emerge as ink evaporates.

Thanks Card

 

 

With Thanksgiving a little more than a week away, our thoughts turn to what we are thankful for.  This pretty fall card is perfect to send to that special person you are thankful is in your life!  I used the "Seasonally Scattered" stamp set from the Stampin' UP! INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut Very Vanilla  (101650) cardstock to measure 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”.  Fold in half and set aside.  Note: Card will be landscape.

2. Ink up the ‘thanks’ stamp from the Seasonally Scattered (135020-wood, 135023-clear) stamp set  with Mossy Meadow (133645) Classic Ink on a piece of  5-1/4” x 4” Very Vanilla cardstock.   Gently sponge around the image with Tangerine Tango (126946) Classic Ink and a Sponge Dauber (133773).

3. Cut a 1-1/2” x 5-1/4” piece of  Color Me Autumn  Designer Series Paper (135820) .  Tear the bottom edge of the paper and adhere to the top of the stamped piece.  Adhere a piece of 3/8” Tangelo Twist Stitched Satin Ribbon across the top of the Designer Series Paper. 

4. Adhere to the front of the card.  Tie a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker’s Twine (135639) around the Stitched Satin Ribbon.
