This past Thursday through Saturday Stampin' Up! held a Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida where demonstrators from around the country gathered. For those who could not attend, Stampin' Up! live streamed the General Assembly Sessions so we, too, could be part of the excitement. This year's keynote speaker was Jason F. Wright, a New York best seller, motivational speaker and columnist. Jason was warm, funny and engaging. Jason talked about the importance of letters and cards. He said while technology is great, there is still something magical about receiving a card in the mail to hold, to keep, to treasure over the years
He spoke about the elderly gentleman he met who had just buried his wife. This gentleman said he would not be able to go on without having all the letters and cards he had received throughout the years from his wife. He was able to read and re-read them, helping to keep her memory alive. I doubt there was a dry eye in the convention center after hearing this story, or by those listening at home, myself included.
Jason also talked about the two friends who met as little girls in grade school and who had stayed in touch throughout the years, even after college. When one of the girls heard about the plane crash in the Pennsylvania field on 9/11, she knew her friend had been on that plane. One of the things which got her through her grief was being able to read all cards and letters she had saved from her friend over the years.
So, while Text, Twitter and Facebook are fast and easy ways to stay connected, please remember that a beautiful, handcrafted card can be saved and treasured for years to come!
