Techniques Class Tonight!

 

There are so many fun techniques to use when paper crafting, whether making cards or decorating your scrapbook pages.  I love teaching the different techniques, so each month I choose two techniques to wow my customers.  Everyone gets to make a full card for each technique, along with a smaller one.  The small card has the instructions printed for the back, and will be encased in a plastic sleeve (think baseball trading card).

Tutorial: Sea of Textures Card

 

One of the best selling bundles in the new Stampin' Up! 2018-19 Annual Catalog has to be the Sea of Textures Bundle.  I cannot seem to get enough of this fun set.  It makes great cards with lots of textures, as the name implies!   You can create a die-cut underwater world (including an octopus) in record time with the dies and the Big Shot. The small fish Thinlit makes for a neat peek through, and the little fish that are cut out can be used in a shaker card.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Score a piece of 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” Crumb Cake card stock at 4-1/4”
2. Adhere a piece of 4” x 5-1/4” Blueberry Bushel card stock to the front of the card.
3. Stamp a piece of 3-3/4” x 5” Very Vanilla card stock all over with the netting stamp from the Sea of Textures Stamp Set in Crumb Cake ink. Adhere to the front of the card.
4. Cut a 3-3/4” x 2” piece of Textures Designer Series Paper to the bottom of the card.
5. Tear the top and bottom off a piece of 2-3/4” x 4-1/4” Very Vanilla card stock. Using a Sponge Dauber and the Crumb Cake ink, sponge color on the torn edges.  Adhere piece to the front of the card.
6. With the Under the Sea Framelits, cut out a Crumb Cake net, two Mint Macaron pieces of coral, a Cajun Craze coral and a Sahara Sand sand dollar. Adhere all the pieces to the front of the card.
7. Stamp a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the octopus from the Sea of Textures stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink. Cut out with the dies and adhere to the netting with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
8. Stamp a piece of 3-3/4” x 5” Very Vanilla card stock with the large coral stamp in Cajun Craze ink. Adhere to the inside of the card.
9. Stamp a Medium Very Vanilla Envelop with the large coral stamp in Cajun Craze ink.

Tutorial: Teacup with Chocolate

 

As promised, I wanted to share how to make the little teacup favors I made for all my Stamp Camp attendees this past weekend.  These little teacups hold a Lindor chocolate.  They are super easy to make and would make a cute little gift for a co-worker celebrating a birthday, or party favors at a baby or bridal shower, depending on the Designer Series Paper you use. 

I used the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper for my little gifts.  This paper consists of delightfully floral flowery flowers—perfect for creating a lasting impression!  You will receive 48 sheets of 6" x 6" acid and lignin free paper  The paper coordinates with the following colors: Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Petal Pink, Powder Pink, Shaded Spruce, Soft Sea Foam, So Saffron, and Whisper White.  You can place an order through my Stampin' Up! INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1.  Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to measure 5-3/4" x 3-1/4".  

Step 2.  Line up the long side along the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and score at 7/8", 1-3/4", 2-5/8", 3-1/2", 4-3/8" and 5-1/4"

Step 3.  Line up the short side and score at 1" and 2-1/4"  (this makes it 1" from both sides)

Step 4.  Using Bone Folder, carefully crease all score lines.

Step 5.  Trim away one corner tab, cut remainder 2 tabs along short side at an angle; on long side cut up to 1st score line on each scored line.  Cut up each score line up to the 1" score line.

Step 6.  Fold up the long side that has not been cut and adhere.  Tuck in the flap to form the circular shape.

Step 7.  Adhere opposite flaps to each other -- this will be the bottom.

Step 8.  Punch out two circles from the Designer Series Paper using a 1-1/4" Circle Punch; adhere one circle to the bottom of the teacup and one circle to the inside of the teacup for a finished look.  

Step 9.  Cut a 1/2" x 3" strip of Designer Series Paper and using a Bone Folder, curl the strip.  Adhere one part of the strip to the inside of the cup and the other end of the strip to the bottom of the teacup.

Step 10.  Add chocolate in the teacup!

Teacups With Chocolates

 

This weekend at my Stamp Camps I have a little gift for everyone attending.  I have made each person a little teacup favor which holds a Lindor chocolate.  These favors would make a cute little gift for a co-worker celebrating a birthday, or party favors at a baby or bridal shower, depending on the Designer Series Paper you use. 

 

For my teacup gifts I used the  Garden Impressions 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.  I will be posting instructions next week on how to make these.

Tutorial: Birds on a Beach Card

 

If you have not added the High Tide Stamp Set to your collection of Stampin' Up! stamp sets, you definitely need to do so.  This is such a great set when you want to make a beach themed or nautical card.  This was a card we made at my June stamp camps and it really was easy but packs a big wow.  Remember, you can purchase any of the items used from my Stampin' Up! Online Store.

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Cut a piece of 8-1/2”” x 5-1/2” Crumb Cake card stock and score at 4-1/4”

2. Cut out a circle from the Layering Circles Framelits on a piece of 3-3/4” x 5” dark color card stock to make your template. Place the template over a 3-3/4” x 5” piece of Whisper White card stock and hold in place while LIGHTLY sponging the top 2/3 of the inside circle with Pacific Point Ink and a Stampin’ Sponge.  

3. Stamp the sand image from the High Tide Stamp Set with Crumb Cake ink on the bottom of the inside circle. Stamp the grass image on the sand with Mossy Meadow Ink.

4. Remove circle template. Stamp the sand birds in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink overlapping inside the circle.

5. Add a ribbon to the bottom of the Whisper White stamped piece and adhere to a 4” x 5-1/4” Mossy Meadow card stock. Adhere to the front of the card base.

Crafting With My Granddaughter

I hope everyone is enjoying their long 4th of July Holiday.  I've had the pleasure of my 10-year old granddaughter staying with me for a few days and we've been busy crafting.  I wanted to try out some new techniques so she and I got to play with inks, salt, Brusho watercolor crystal powders and shaving cream!  We were trying the Messy Embossed Watercoloring Technique, Salted Technique and the Brusho Shaving Cream Technique.  I think she did a great job!
