Tutorial: Thinking of You Poppies Card

With most of the country under a "Shelter in Place" order, this is a wonderful time to make those "Thinking of You" cards and send them to your loved ones and friends.  I know there are others ways to stay in contact with them through phone calls, texting, social media, etc., but why not put a smile on their face with a beautiful card, made by you, which they can hold in their hands and lovingly display,to look at over and over again!

 

Today's card uses the Painted Poppies Stamp Set and the Painted Labels Dies from the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog.   It is very simple to make but will certainly bring a smile to that special someone who receives this card.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a piece Rococo Rose card stock to measure 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” and score at 4-1/4” Fold in half — card will be landscape.

2. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to measure 5-1/4” x 4” and stamp with the flowers from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink.  Color the flowers with  Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze Light Stampin’ Blends.

3. Adhere a strip of 1/2” x 5-1/4” 2019-21 Designer Series Paper to the bottom of the card stock. Adhere card stock to the front of the card.

4. Cut out the rectangular label from the Painted Labels Dies in Whisper White card stock. Stamp with the “Thinking of you with all my heart” from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and adhere to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. 

5. Add a ribbon knot with a piece of Petal Pink 1/4” Metallic– Edge Ribbon to the label.

6. Cut another piece of Whisper White card stock to measure 5-1/4” x 4” and stamp with the “With Deepest Sympathy” from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set in Tuexedo Black Memento Ink and adhere to the inside of the card.

Thinking of You Card

These past two weeks have been so hard.  Two weeks ago both my son's and my mother's nursing homes went on lock downs to protect all the residents.  I worry about whether they are aware that we are not visiting them or if they are both in their little worlds and really don't know what is going on.  I guess that would be a good thing.

Now more than ever while the country is facing the biggest challenge of our lifetime with the Corona virus, we need to let our family and friends know that we are thinking about them, even though we can't visit them.  I spent yesterday making cards to send out to my Catholic friends who, like me, struggle not being able to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist.  I know they will appreciate knowing I am thinking of them.

For the cards I used the free Sale-a-bration Kerchief Card Kit.  On the inside I added the "Spiritual Communion" by St. Alposus Ligouri.  

So, as we are asked to remain in our homes to slow down and contain this virus, why not put your time to good use and make some cards to mail to them so they know they are in our thoughts and prayers -- it's the next best thing to a hug!

Tutorial: Painted Poppies Thank You Card

I have found it is always good to have a few Thank You cards on hand, especially after a birthday or special event in your life.  Today's card is easy but pretty and uses the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder and the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, but any beautiful paper would work!  All items can be purchased through my Stampin' Up! Online Store.

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to measure 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” and score at    4-1/4”  Fold in half. 
2. Cut a piece of Basic Black card stock to measure 4” x 5-1/4” and adhere to the front of the card base.
3. Cut a piece of Poppy Parade or Terracotta Tile card stock to measure 3” x 3-3/4” and emboss with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to the bottom of the Basic Black card stock.
4. Cut a piece of Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper to measure 3” x 3-3/4” and adhere to the top of the Basic Black card stock.
5. With the Painted Labels Dies, cut out the large circle and stamp “Thank You” from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Adhere to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
6. Stamp a piece of Poppy Parade or Terracotta Tile card stock with the small flower from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set in the same color ink. Cut out using the Poppy Moments Dies.  Adhere to the front of the circle.
7. Stamp a sentiment inside the card.
