Technique Tuesday: Faux Stained Glass Window Technique

Today's Technique Tuesday Tutorial is from one of my classes and is the Faux Stained Glass Window Technique.  It works best with lined images rather than solid images.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1:  Rub Embossing Buddy over Vellum.

Step 2:  Stamp image in VersaMark

Step 3:  Sprinkle Black Embossing Power over stamped image and heat emboss.

Step 4:  Turn embossed image over and color image with Stampin’ Write Markers.  Turn over and adhere image to card.

Step 5:  Embellish and complete your card.

Technique Tuesday: Magical Masking Tape

 

It is time for another Technique Tuesday Tutorial.  Today I wanted to show you how easy it is to do the Magical Masking Tape  technique.  Any Stampin' Up!  set would work for this technique.  I used the Thoughts & Prayers (128751-wood, 127805-clear) stamp set from the current 2014-15 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog  for my main card and I used the Praying Hands (retired) stamp for my small technique card.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1:  Tear off a strip of masking tape.  Note:  Be sure to use the blue Painter's Tape.

Step 2: Ink up paint strip with classic ink.

Step 3: Place tape over glossy cardstock.

Step 4:  Repeat with different ink if you want to add more strips and colors.

Step 5:  Place a piece of scrap paper over the strips and burnish strips.

Step 6:  Start peeling tape strips off your cardstock.  Let ink dry

Step 7:  Stamp background image for your project.

Technique Tuesday: Blendabilities Glue Dots

Now that you are all excited about the new Stampin' Up!  Blendabilities, here is a cute idea that was shown at this year's Stampin' Up!  Annual Convention.  Using your Blendabilities, color a circle on your Silicone Craft Sheet.  When your glue gun is hot and ready (be sure to use the hot and not cool glue), squirt the glue over the colored circle. When cool, just peel it up and add it to your card or scrapbook page!

Technique Tuesday: Watercolor Paper Technique

 

There are lots of watercolor techniques but this one is one of my favorite.  I think everyone who attended my July Techniques Class  really enjoyed learning the Watercolor Paper Technique.  There was something relaxing about adding water to the paper and rolling a drop of ink around to form a one-of-a-kind pattern pattern.  And it was fun to see everyone's finished cards because there were no two completely alike!

WATERCOLOR PAPER TECHNIQUE INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:  Fill your Aqua Painter with water.  

Step 2.  Carefully squeeze water onto watercolor paper in upper area.   Add 1 drop of Old Olive re-inker.

Step 3.  Gently roll color around on paper.  Roll off excess water.

Step 4:   Squeeze water from Aqua Painter onto middle of watercolor paper.  Add Marina Mist re-inker and repeat Step #3. 

Step 5:  Squeeze water from Aqua Painter  onto bottom of watercolor paper.  Add  Night of Navy re-inker and repeat Step #3.

Step 6:  Let dry then stamp image.

Step 7:  Finish card.

Technique Tuesday: Plastic Wrap Technique

 

Everyone loved this technique which I recently taught at my monthly Techniques Tuesday Classes.  It is called the Plastic Wrap Technique and while it is a wee bit messy, the end result is beautiful!

If you would like to learn some great techniques to use for your scrapbook pages or cardmaking, join me the last Tuesday of each month.  I teach 2 classes, one at 10:00 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.  No experience necessary!  My next class will be Tuesday, July 29th.  Please RSVP by signing up at [email protected].

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:  Wrap plastic wrap around clear block.

Step 2:  Carefully ink up block with Classic Ink and stamp over Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock.  You may have to repeat this one or more times to make sure entire piece is covered.

Step 3:  After piece is dry, this will now become your background.

Step 4:  Stamp desired image(s) and embellish to complete card.

Technique Tuesday: Watercolor Drip Technique

Today is my monthly Techniques Tuesday Class and one of the techniques I will be teaching is the Watercolor Drip Technique.  This is a fun technique using Stampin' Up! re-inkers and the Aqua Painter.  For the globe on the card I used the new Traveler (134510-wood, 134513-clear) stamp set and the background is from the World Map (130342-wood, 130345-clear) stamp set.  If you would like to purchase either of these stamp sets, visit my Stampin' Up! WATERCOLOR DRIP INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1:  Fill Aqua Painter with water.

Step 2:  Squirt 3 to 4 colors of ink into little puddles for quick access.

Step 3:  Squeeze Aqua Painter gently to release water & coat upper 1/4 of watercolor paper with even layer of water.

Step 4:  Hold paper with the wet part at top, pick up ink with Aqua Painter & drip it along with more water down the length of the paper so ink & water runs in rivulets.

Step 5:  Once you have all the color on it, hold paper upright & tap on your surface a couple of times to shake off excess drips.

Step 6:  Now you are ready to stamp your image and finish your card!

Techniques Tuesday: Spotlight Masking Tutorial

Today I wanted to feature a fun technique called Spotlight Masking.  It is like putting an "aura" around something.  It's fast and easy to do -- just a little extra stamping, cutting and sponging are all that's involved!

SPOTLIGHT MASKING INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:  Stamp image onto Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and also onto a piece of scrap paper.  Cut out scrap paper image.

Step 2:  Die cut  circle/square which is larger than image on cardboard.  Lightly tape cardboard template to stamped cardstock to prevent slipping.

Step 3:  Hold cutout of image over stamped image and sponge background color around it carefully, keeping template in place.  Lift off.

Step 4:  Embellish and complete card.

Technique Tuesday: Distressed Glue

 

Sometimes you have to get down and dirty (not really, but certainly gooey!) when trying a new technique.  Today's technique is one I taught at my monthly Techniques Tuesday class and we had a lot of fun with it.  It is called the Distressed Glue Technique and we used the retired Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder for our background and the Postage Due (132064-wood, 126397-clear) stamp set.  Any stamp set or embossing folder will work for this technique.

 

Instructions

Step 1:  Stamp tag/cardstock as desired.

Step 2:  Apply several drops of Crystal Effects (or Tacky Glue) to your tag/cardstock in various areas.

Step 3:  Smear around with your finger or a coffee stir & let dry.

Step 4:  Sponge one or more colors of dye on piece. 

Step 5:  Carefully wipe with tissue.  Areas with Crystal Effects will not hold color.

Technique Tuesday: Glitter Window Technique

I wanted to show you a cute card we made at my April's Techniques Tuesday Class called the Glitter Window Technique.  It is a fun, glittzy technique and all you need is your favorite stamp, a punch or Framelits, clear packing tape and some Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!

Techniques Tuesday: Dryer Sheet Technique

Today is my monthly Techniques Tuesday Class and I thought I would show you what my stampers will be learning how to do.  I will be teaching them the Dryer Sheet Technique which is a fun way to use up old dryer sheets.  I am all about re-purposing things!  And I love the fuzzy effect this technique gives to the card.
